Sustainability Strategy
To continuously enhance our sustainability performance and concentrate our efforts in our main areas, Pronav Shipping creates a thorough sustainability plan. We reaffirm our commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are supported by this plan in addition to the many dimensions of human development. Our dedication to sustainability and the six key action areas form its foundation.
In order to anchor the six previously mentioned essential strategic concerns in our global operations, we use a range of methods and techniques. Our HSSE Policy integrates the relevant ideas to clearly identify accountability for social and environmental issues at the highest level. Our corporate policies and guidelines are developed based on internationally recognized concepts of responsible entrepreneurship. The cornerstone is our Code of Conduct, which is relevant to every employee.
Additional measures include statistical key performance indicator monitoring, internal audits, and the implementation of certified management systems (Key Performance Indicators – KPIs). As sustainability is essential to our goal of ensuring our viability for the future, we will be integrating it even more into our routine workflows and procedures coming forward.
We firmly feel that corporate citizenship has an obligation that extends beyond commerce. Our strategy is long-term and targeted at producing long-lasting effects. In addition to providing direct corporate funding for these programs, we also urge staff members to get involved and lend a hand.
Strategic Action Areas
& Sustainable Growth
To maintain long-term profitability and controlled expansion, we rely on a balanced allocation of risk across the operating units while also taking social and ecological concerns into account. Although they function independently, the operational units are strategically connected. Our consolidated financial figures are included in our annual report. By presenting economic data in accordance with GRI guidelines, the Pronav Shipping annual Sustainability Report gives a thorough overview of our contribution to the sustainability of a broader economic system. We pay taxes, create jobs, and invest in the local infrastructure in the Netherlands and many other parts of the world.
Risk Management
One of our main challenges as we strive toward our aim of controlled, long-term growth is limiting the myriad financial, operational, and HSSE risks. Because of this, we work inside an extensive and continuous framework of risk management that rates each risk differently and creates specific tasks, assignments, and responsibilities for each. To further ensure a healthy balance of risk, all hazards, including social and environmental ones, are evaluated within the framework of the entire group of firms. We use a decentralized approach whereby operating unit accountability is distributed and risks are shared by multiple businesses. The following are the main risks that could impact future business performance:
- Oil market concerns stemming from political unrest in nations that produce oil.
- A renewed global financial crisis and/or an extended period of economic contraction.
- A prolonged period of economic recession or a resurgence of the global financial crisis.
- growing costs for energy and natural resources.
- Risks are higher in the nations where we operate.
